‘It’s funny as hell. And among the puns and wordplay are some downright elegant slams.’
With special guest Downsyde
Riding high on a crest of anarchic fervour, A.B. Original is a hip hop force to be reckoned with. Pulling no punches, MCs Trials and Briggs are taking Australia to task with an irresistible slam of politically-motivated songs that celebrate our black history and demand a better present – one where diversity reigns and razor sharp raps dominate.
Rest assured, this is no sermon, but rather a radical storm of Public Enemy-style energy punctuated by a fireball of hip hop awesome.
After nine years in between drinks, WA hip hop institution Downsyde are back with the release of their fifth album ClassicILL and heading to the Gardens to support A.B. Original. MCs Optamus, Dazastah and Shabaz formed Downsyde in 1996 for a school talent competition, kicking open the doors for West Australian hip hop artists as well as being early pioneers on the national scene. Now with the addition of Beni Bjah to the group, Downsyde are back in the game.
Downsyde - 8pm
A.B. Original - 9.10pm
