Pilar Mata Dupont

A story of invasion and conservation set in the Pilbara.

Presented in association with FORM

In Undesirable Bodies, Pilar Mata Dupont presents Jirndawurrunha, an area in the Pilbara sacred to the Yindjibarndi people, through stunning images and a major three-screen video installation. A narrative of invasion, colonisation, and conservation unfolds with invasive flora playing protagonists in a tourist economy in tension with this sacred, and hauntingly beautiful, location.

Pilar Mata Dupont is renowned internationally for using theatrical and cinematic methods to investigate history and mythologies.

Both the artist and FORM respectfully acknowledge the Yindjibarndi people, on whose land this work was created, and thank the Yindjibarndi Aboriginal Corporation for its support of this project.
